Anna Akhmatova was Russian poet. Her life was effected by Joseph Stalin when he was ruler. Her first husband, who was also a poet, was killed because he didn't support the revolution. Along with that her son and her third husband, Lev Gumilev and Nikolai Purin, were both arrested for going against the Soviet government. The Soviet people liked her poem very much. But when Joseph Stalin was ruling she was not allowed to publish her work, because in them she spoke poorly about how people were being treated and how he ruled. Because of that her most popular poem wasn't published until Stalin passed away.
